I developed an interest in making miniature furniture around 15 years ago but it's in the last few years that I've scaled down and I'm working more in 48th (quarter inch) scale. I’m finding it such a fantastic and challenging scale to work in and I’m thoroughly enjoying the process and challenge of creating pieces of furniture and other items at this smaller scale. I do also occasionally make items in 24th (half inch) scale.
All my work is handmade, I don’t have access to a lasercutter or 3D printer. The wood is either cut by hand or on a tablesaw. I'm not working to any particular style or period at the moment, but making pieces that I enjoy making and that will enable my skills to develop further. Whilst I have a small range of furniture and items at the moment, I will increase the range over time. Scratch building at this smaller scale is surprisingly time consuming. In 2025 I’ll be attending my first events at Miniatura in March, Kensington in May and York in June.
